Hi! I'm Liz. I am a cartoonist/illustrator hybrid working out of Brooklyn, NY. I used to draw a comic called My Brain Hurts, which I initially self-published in minicomic format but eventually all the issues were compiled into two books and put out by the nice folks at Microcosm Publishing as My Brain Hurts: Volume One and My Brain Hurts: Volume Two. My Brain Hurts followed the exploits of a group of queer teen punk kids in New York City and no, it is not autobiography. I am frequently heard to describe it as a gayer, punkier version of the Canadian Degrassi TV series, if that helps you at all.

Recently I have been more focused on my webcomic, Freewheel, which updates every Monday, Wednesday and Friday (hint, hint). Freewheel is the story of a young girl named Jamie who is in foster care with her brother Jack. Jack goes missing one day and Jamie sets off to find him, embarking on a kind of epic fantasy hobo adventure. That's the quickest way to describe it, anyway.

Oh, also I graduated from the School of Visual Arts with a major in cartooning back in 2002, if that sort of thing is of value to you.

If hearing about awards and honors is more your bag, well I don't have any. However, I've been nominated for both the Maisie Kukoc Award for Comics Inspiration in 2008 and the Friends of Lulu Kim Yale Award for Best New Talent in 2009. Don't I sound fancier already?

If you would like to pay me some money to draw something for you, or if you just want to tell me about your day, you can always email me at liz@lizbaillie.com. I can't guarantee that I'll reply, but don't worry - I still love you best of all.

Oh and in case you were wondering, everything I post here is copyright ME circa NOW AND FOREVER. Don't use it without my permission unless you are prepared for a beatdown next time I see you, courtesy of my trademark Marshmallow Fists of Fury.

Also please don't be sad if you add me and I don't add you back. I spent so much time on this stupid internet wasting time I'm honestly afraid of how little I'll get done if I add any more journals.
